Hydrogen fuel is safe. It’s colorless, odorless and nontoxic. You know what? It’s also the most efficient of all the fuels currently in use. In fact, our own sun uses hydrogen as its energy source. Now that’s a bright idea!
How do we get the hydrogen? Air Products reforms it out of natural gas for the hydrogen fueling station on our campus. You can also separate hydrogen from water using an electrical current.
Our hydrogen station stores approximately 140 kilograms of hydrogen. With an automated dispenser capable of delivering the fuel, the station will serve as a model for future stations. They’ll be just like gas stations—safe, convenient and easy to use.
Hydrogen is nontoxic. Like gasoline, it is a fuel, but in a gas form, not liquid. And just like any fuel, it should be handled safely. Standards and safety monitoring have been in place throughout the industry for over 50 years. The industry has an outstanding safety record, locally and globally.
